When Danson Muchemi started JamboPay in 2009, few expected it to go on to become the leading online payment gateway in Kenya.  Fast forward to 2016 and the 32 year old’s Jambo Pay now serves more than 1,500 institutional clients and processes over $50 million in payments every year. The company expects to have presence in 14 African countries by the end of 2016.

Introducing Danson Muchemi?

How PayPal influenced the rise of JamboPay

For years, PayPal has remained the leading online payment solution across the globe.  In Africa however, their operation is severely limited. In some countries, users can only receive payments but can’t use their accounts to initiate payments. In the African countries where PayPal function fully, there is little to no sensitisation. Local businesses don’t have a reference point and thus can’t integrate PayPal into their business. This challenge was what Danson Muchemi faced when he intended to start and E-commerce site. JamboPay was therefore formed to take on PayPal in areas where they were lacking or areas where they have simply ignored over the years.

What does JamboPay offer?

JamboPay is an innovative Payments service provider aimed at helping businesses and governments to collect or disburse money electronically. JamboPay processes payments for e-commerce sites, billers, ticketing companies, retailers.  The service is provided on mobile, web and through physical agents.  It provides Telcos and Banks with a uniting bond.

Who are the major users of JamboPay?

JamboPay is used by people looking to securely make payments from the comfort of their homes, offices and even when travelling. E-commerce portals are big users as well but the gaming industry in Kenya is not left out. Standard PayPal bingo sites, some of which are covered here www.newpaypalbingo.com, that accept players from Kenya or have presence in Kenya equally use JamboPay to take payments and pay winnings. This has in a way helped the growing online gaming scene in the country. One major benefit of JamboPay is that it has helped many businesses to improve in terms of efficiency and transparency.
