When your business is running short on room, turning it into a success can seem impossible. It feels like you’re hindered at every turn, with no room to move or think, let alone expand. You feel like your business is stuck and you simply don’t have the funds to relocate to somewhere bigger. Well, don’t despair – here are a few tips and tricks that will give you all of the space you need…
Invest in Racks, Drawers and Cabinets
Every space will seem bigger if it’s organized and everything has a place, so it’s time to invest in some racks, drawers and cabinets. Gather up all of your loose papers, wires, staplers and anything else, and shut it away out of sight. Place your furnishing strategically, so that anything you need can be accessed in an instant.
Choose Small Workstations
There’s a real trend for big, sprawling desks, but if your office space is restricted, then these make no sense. Each employee requires only a certain amount of room, and with work increasingly conducted on a computer, you essentially need space for nothing more than a monitor, its accompanying equipment and a notepad – anything else can be stored in the racks, cabinets and drawers you’ve invested in.
Reduce Your Reliance on Paper
Chances are that you’re far more likely to manage with the aforementioned minimal workspaces if you reduce the amount of paper that your company uses. With increased access to cloud storage, almost everything business related can be stored online, making paper versions of accounts, receipts and so on unnecessary. Not only will this change help to free up some office space, but it will also have a positive environmental impact – something that makes a lot of customers happy.
Don’t Buy More Equipment than You Need
Most offices will need a separate computer for each employee, but not all of the equipment you own will be in constant use. If faxing, printing and photocopying are not particularly frequent occurrences, then you only really need one of each machine. Reducing your numbers will not only free up space, but also lessen your overheads.
Install Sliding Doors
Sliding doors, such as those sold by Barrier Components, take up less room than ordinary ones. Think about it for a moment: ordinary doors require empty space to open into; sliding doors don’t. To maximize the amount of wall space you have access to, simply substitute the former for the latter.
