Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Shannon Ashford discuss the following:

  1. What is Tom Foolery and what sparked the idea to launch the business?
  2. Who is Tom Foolery’s customer?
  3. Why is it important for today’s brands to maintain integrity in the production process and make their products under fair conditions?
  4. What is your favorite Tom Foolery clothing piece and why?
  5. What is next for Tom Foolery? What plans does the brand have for 2019?

Tom Foolery started with the simple idea of creating rompers that allow women to use the ladies room without sitting on a drafty stall and clutching a naked chest. The solution was this: an open, overlapping side seam with a drop-down seat. All Tom Foolery rompers are made locally and under fair conditions. The brand’s goal is to not only create visually appealing garments, but to maintain integrity in the production process. All fabric is made from plastic bottles collected in Haiti.

Tom Foolery partners develop environmentally responsible jersey and create thousands of jobs in developing countries with the production process. By making their final products in the United States, Tom Foolery cuts out carbon emissions from international transportation. As the company grows, Tom Foolery aims to develop their own manufacturing facilities and textile mills. In so doing, giving them complete control over environmental impact. Tom Foolery used jersey in all of their jumpsuits made from 50% cotton and 50% plastic bottles collected in Port Au Prince, Haiti. With the help of our loyal customers, Tom Foolery has repurposed about 1200 plastic bottles.

Shannon Ashford is the Founder, designer, creator, and brain of Tom Foolery. A SoCal native most likely to be found with her bare feet in the sand quoting Will Ferrell comedies. Her curiosity has taken her around the world, up mountaintops, down sea caves, and out of open plane hatches. Always finding the light in others, her goal is to dress you to match the beauty within. She describes these rompers as the perfect manifestation of the energy and adventure of a tomboy packaged as a classy lady. Made for the daring and refreshingly original.
