Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Penelope Finnie discuss the following:

  1. Today we’re discussing your company’s new product, Pads on a Roll. Can you briefly describe what this product is, and what makes it different from similar commercial products on the market today?
  2. How did you come up with this idea?
  3. Who are some of your first adopters of the product, and where do you see sales growing in coming years?
  4. The conversation around menstrual cycles is changing. What changes have you seen in recent years?
  5. If someone listening wants to install Pads on a Roll in restrooms they manage, what steps would they take?
  6. Here’s a question based on your background. You’ve been a serial entrepreneur–designing the Ask Jeeves character, interactive children’s software, and also a chain of chocolate cafes among other long-term business ventures. Obviously being an entrepreneur involves dedication and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. You have lots of experience in different domains. What is it that makes you decide, “This is a project I want to carry to completion”?

Penelope Finnie is a brand builder, best known as the creator of the “Ask Jeeves” character for today’s Ask.com, as well as the CEO of the Bittersweet chocolate cafes in the Bay Area, among other ventures. Today she is the CEO of Egal, a company that makes Pads on a Roll, a menstrual product that dispenses pads in public restrooms on a roll, just like toilet paper. Finnie and her team believe that period products should be available free for all in public restrooms, just like we supply toilet paper, soap, towels, and seat covers for public health and hygiene. As more states and schools mandate that period products should be free in public bathrooms, Pads on a Roll aims to make this easier and more affordable to achieve.
