Gemma Toner is a media and telecommunications leader who drives innovation at the intersection of Big Data, Technology and Digital Media. She is currently the Founder and CEO of ChartOne Media, an OTT platform, data, community and content company that is the parent company of TONE Networks.
As a senior executive in the cable industry for more than 20 years, Toner witnessed firsthand the powerful role that executive coaching and mentoring had in her career. She created TONE Networks to be a valuable resource to help busy, time-starved women grow to their potential — a place that provides honest, practical information from highly sought-after, credentialed experts to help women grow personally and professionally. A place where women can go to help one another and help themselves.
Prior to founding TONE Networks, Toner was SVP, Business Insights and Strategy at Cablevision Systems Corporation, leading enterprise-wide big data initiatives. During her tenure, she held roles in Marketing, Business Development, and Product Management, working closely with the executive team to push technology to consumer and business segments, and creating an award-winning suite of products and first-to-market industry initiatives including Optimum Online (fastest growing ISP in the US at the time), Optimum Wifi (largest wifi network in NY metro area), Optimum Rewards, Optimum Voice, and Optimum Select (interactive advertising).
Before Cablevision, Toner rose through the ranks at AMC Networks to become SVP, New Media Development. There, she led the development of new media and interactive opportunities for AMC Networks, positioning the company to capitalize on emerging entertainment platforms. Toner began her career as an Auditor at Ernst and Whinney before moving to Rainbow Advertising Sales Company as an Account Executive.
A graduate of Villanova University, Toner has been a past Chairperson for the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing and a past board member at WICT (Women in Cable Television), as well as a Wonder Woman and Tami recipient. She was recently awarded a patent for The System and Method for Set Top Box Viewing Data, which enables the use of set top box data to measure audience viewing patterns
Gemma served on the Board of Directors for Sandvine, (TSX:SVC) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, which was recently acquired by Francisco Partners, a leading global private equity firm and Procera Networks, Inc, a leading subscriber and network intelligence provider. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of Engagement Labs Inc. (TSXV: EL), which provides full-service next-generation social technology solutions for marketers.
Gemma is a Member of the Board of Concern Worldwide, an international humanitarian organization partnering with local communities to transform the lives of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people.
