Nina Kaplan Founder of Beautyland Couture in Newtown, PA joins Enterprise Radio to discuss her Madison K book series and handbag line.

Nina Kaplan was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts & received her BFA from Tyler School of Art and also attended Yale Graduate School for Fine Arts.
She started her first business in 1987 with $400 creating and selling handmade jewelry along with representing other artists. She opened her first retail store in 1989 in Newtown, PA called Angel Heart which was a high end jewelry and fashion business and was very successful. During that time she also opened a very unique home decor store called French Lace which was featured in many publications such as Victoria Magazine, Southern Home and Architectural Digest. Angel Heart too was featured in Vogue, Marie Claire and a few other blurbs.
As a process painter, Nina has always evolved so naturally as BLC came next and as she sold her beloved and unique Angel Heart, she knew that she could do something new and build something that might be extraordinary with the possibility to be classic and timeless.
“Persistence and hard work were very difficult from the beginning and having or should I say creating a voice and a message based on all my experience has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done so far, says Nina. I truly believe that Madison K. and BLC are a business model with heart and integrity and will hopefully inspire the entrepreneurial and ethical spirit in young women, as I truly believe that we can be better.
