UK Data Reveals Which Job Positions Have the Most Supply in 2021

The labour market tends to shift from degree limitation to acknowledging skill-driven markets. No, your degree is not worthless; however, employers prefer individual abilities over paper reports or both.

Considering this trend, many informed professionals and wannabe professionals are investing in upskilling to refine their abilities. One such opportunity is the never-ending CPD accreditation recognised globally. CPD benefits can’t be overemphasised in any industry. Moreover, it is open to professionals and aspiring young people willing to acquire and enhance their skills.

Before investing in continuing professional education, what does the UK labour market look like? Is the market worth it anymore? Yes, the UK labour market is worth it, except that employers ‘factor in’ additional accreditations such as CPD when considering prospects or existing workforce for available positions.

UK’s Most Vacant Job Positions

Following analysis from Glassdoor.co.uk analysis, the CPD Standards Office investigated the most available UK job positions in 2021 and companies with the most vacancies and regions with the most jobs.

Following the report, medical professionals are the most demanded, and registered nurse positions occupy at least 4.32 percent of available jobs advertised on Glassdoor UK. This development follows the NHS role during COVID-19 lockdown in containing the virus.

Janitorial staff jobs follow the trend, recording 2.35 percent availability. You’d argue that the lockdown affected janitorial services. However, operating businesses needed more hands to comply with the lockdown laws by ensuring maximum workplace hygiene.

Digital marketing representative roles are the next in line, constituting 1.97 per cent of available roles while marketing managers record 2 per cent. This trend follows the recent surge in demand for online stores and about 85,000 businesses launched online services from March 2021.

Private childcare providers also witnessed a surge, recording 1.79 percent of available job roles advertised on Glassdoor UK. During the lockdown, about a third of local authorities in the UK reduced free childcare placements, denying many households free child care. Moreover, considering the school closure, parents at work needed childcare providers to watch over their children.

At 1.48 per cent, private tutor positions are the next most advertised jobs on Glassdoor UK, with parents investing in private educators to teach their children.

Companies with the Most Vacant Positions in the UK

Following the report, Little Ones UK, a private childcare provider leads the most hiring companies with 1.50 per cent, indicating the demand for private childcare across the lockdown.

At least 10 percent of Brits invested in language learning, making Language Trainers record 0.46 percent job adverts on Britain’s Glassdoor ads. As a confirmation that many people learned languages during the lockdown, Duolingo recorded 300 million users in March 2020 learning new languages worldwide.

Reportedly, the demand for gaming increased by 46 per cent, forcing Jadex to seek software developers to meet surging gamers’ demand. Jadex Glassdoor UK ads recorded 0.46 percent of advertised positions.

What Regions Offer the Most Jobs?

Glassdoor UK job ads data indicate London as the region with the most jobs, recording 27.85% positions. Nonetheless, Northern cities, including Manchester, Glasgow, and Leeds make up 34% of job positions advertised on Glassdoor UK.

The benefit of CPD for Job Seekers

Most people think of continuing professional development as an avenue for individuals after they complete professional qualifications with professional agencies. Conventionally, this claim is the case but a recent CPD Standards research discovered a surging CPD trend targeted at young people between the ages of 9 and 25.

Professionals and students who undertake CPD accredited training enjoy skill enhancement, and wannabe professionals boost their potential by acquiring new skills. Upskilling is rampant nowadays as young people are discovering the need not to be dependent on their degrees. By then investing in CPD accreditation, professionals and young people do not only learn but become formally certified and recognised in the UK.

Another astounding benefit of continuing professional training is that after completing a CPD accredited course, employees, professionals, and jobseekers declare a recognised qualification on their ‘resume’. It informs the labour market about an individual’s credibility and skillfulness. Moreover, CPD learning is a never-ending professional training.

Your School Qualifications May Not Be Enough

Obtaining the degree is good, but CPD certification makes it better. You understand that the labour market is saturated. Moreover, your field of expertise may not be one of the best hiring industries, meaning you must be at your best to stand a chance.

With CPD, you’re a unique professional, even without the job experience. Lest we fail to mention, CPD offers you an indirect experience of the job role.

You can undertake continuing professional development training in any topic. Simply discover your most preferred CPD provider, invest in a suitable course, stay committed and become certified.

Ensure to follow the learning and progression, and understand that CPD programmes are not a one-time affair. Besides, some establishments mandate CPD training in the job to match employees with trends.

Final Thoughts

CPD is not a job qualification programme, but training that you undertake to develop, discover and refine new knowledge. It keeps you informed about the industry and industry’s best practices as well as building your professional portfolio. “CPD is designed for all.”
