Jonathan Lucus of NSite

Jonathan Lucus, Executive Director at NSITE, a  non-profit based in Alexandria, VA, working to connect blind and visually impaired professionals with high-paying jobs and job training joins Enterprise Radio. Mr. Lucus is here to discuss the need for greater inclusivity in the workplace.

Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Jonathan Lucus discuss the following:

  1. With October being National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), how is NSITE leveraging this occasion to further highlight and address the pressing challenges identified in the survey?
  2. The survey reveals that a significant percentage of respondents were unsure about their company’s DEIA initiatives, especially in terms of recruiting disabled candidates. What do you think is the primary reason behind this lack of awareness, and how can organizations bridge this gap?
  3. You mentioned that decision-makers often resist hiring individuals with disabilities due to misconceptions about the cost and effort involved. How does NSITE address these misconceptions when liaising with companies?
  4. The press release sheds light on the tech tools available to support blind or low-vision employees, especially in IT roles. Can you provide some specific examples of these assistive technologies and how they have transformed the workplace
  5. Based on the findings of this survey and your experiences, where do you envision the state of inclusivity in the workplace in the next 5 years? What role will NSITE play in shaping this future?
