History of Portugieser Chronograph
IWC Portugieser is one of the oldest and most famous versions of its brand originally introduced to the world in the 1930s. The manufacturing of the first watch in this range was done when two Portuguese men ordered wristwatches that can beat pocket watch in precision rate, it is when the time of using pocket watches started.74 and 98 pocket watch calibers were used for this purpose and then this wristwatch was announced in 1939.
In 1995 a watch with a tag line expresses the wristwatch that never existed before in the history of IWC watches and a watch named “ Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante” was launched. It was the first-ever Chronograph which is seen in the Portugieser series.
This collection contains multiple categories of innovative models including some special editions available in different varieties with respect to color, size, material, and internal mechanisms.
Some of the latest models in the chronograph range were also launched recently, we’ll discuss the technical features of some of these models below, These are all powered by 69355 family caliber.
69355 IWC caliber
69355 is an in-house caliber manufactured IWC feature optimal precision. It is designed for the watches that require high-quality yet optimal precision-based calibers. It uses a bi-directional winding system which is almost the same as a peloton system for an extreme level of accuracy and reliability. Multiple subdials are embedded on this caliber and finely tuned within it . Movements use oscillation at the rate of 4 hertz and provide 3 days power reserve times.
The fact of using this caliber is because IWC never compromises on the part of accuracy and reliability when it comes to the longevity of the timepieces IWC always holds its principle position.
Sapphire Crystal
Brand uses sapphire crystal in the manufacturing of its timepieces to ensure robustness and antireflective properties. In all Portuigieser editions, convex sapphire crystal is used with both side anti-reflective. One can easily see through this glass the internal mechanism of the wristwatch and detailed artistry of IWC watches by master watchmakers.
