Shael Weinreb, the CEO at The Home Equity Partners in Toronto, Canada, who offers an innovative financial solution to homeowners, the Home Equity Sharing Agreement, or HESA joins Enterprise Radio.
This episode of Enterprise Radio is in association with the Real Estate Channel.
Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Shael Weinreb discuss the following:
-
- I understand that the real estate fintech industry is growing nationally. Shael, for anyone hearing about The Home Equity Partners for the first time, what does HEQ do and what problem are they solving for Canadian home owners?
- Tell us a bit about your background before you founded HEQ? What led you to start The Home Equity Partners? What gap did you see in the market that traditional mortgage lending wasn’t solving?Â
- It’s been just over a year since launching HEQ, and you’ve crossed $12 million shared equity value. What has the response been so far, and what stands out most from that first year?
- For our listeners, the Home Equity Sharing Agreement is a new offering in the Canadian marketplace. What’s been the hardest part of building a new financial category from the ground up? Any lessons or insights to share with fellow founders?
- Most homeowners are familiar with HELOCs, Â refinancing, or reverse mortgages. What makes a home equity sharing agreement (HESA) fundamentally different from those options?
- Both Canada and the USA are facing a ‘turning point’ in mortgage renewals in 2026 and 2027, with many households that are facing higher payments. What are you seeing on the ground among homeowners today?
- What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone  who feels house rich but cash constrained?
