The newest member of the NFI Team joining in July 2013 is Lori Karpman, President of the multi-award winning Lori Karpman & Associates (www.lorikarpman.com). Recognized as 1 of Canada’s leading experts on Franchising & Multi-Unit Business Development, Ms. Karpman is a frequent guest speaker and prolific writer having published over 100 articles, book chapters and whitepapers, and appearing both on TV and on Radio, (YouTube).

Ms. Karpman is a 25yr+ veteran of the franchise industry and her firm was twice voted Best Franchise Consultants in Canada. She started her career with a 7 year corporate mergers/acquisitions private law practice before becoming the Director of Legal Affairs and Human Resources for a million dollar international foodservice company that was simultaneously a franchisor and the master Franchisee for Quebec for the Pizza Hut brand. After gathering experience in all aspects of both franchising and foodservice, Ms. Karpman went on to co-found her own franchised food chain, which earned her several prestigious awards for her branding and marketing work including the pinnacle award “Outstanding Overall Corporate Image” (awarded by the Canadian Franchise Association & Toronto Advertising Association).  After 5 years the chain was sold to a US franchise development firm and Ms. Karpman founded her own consulting and law firm.

An attorney by trade, Ms. Karpman continued to offer her local, national and international law practice to growing clients, as well as a complete roster of business development services. Her background includes extensive entrepreneurial and corporate experience with a specialty in franchising and multi-unit/revenue stream business models. Ms. Karpman has worked with some of the Nation’s best loved brands, (such as Petro Canada, Pizza Hut, Baton Rouge, Chatters Beauty Supply, Comfort Keepers, Boston Pizza, Stokes Homewares and many others), but has a penchant for smaller and emerging brands that can benefit from her full range of expertise .

Additionally, Ms. Karpman was a valued Professor of Entrepreneurship at the John Molson School of Business in Montreal’s John Molson School of Business rated one of the world’s Top 100 Business School’s by Economist Magazine. In her spare time she has devoted thousands of hours at the Board and Executive level of Not For Profit organizations and charities.
