How To Become More Resilient In The Workplace

Endurance vs Resilience

Going through any hardship or rough patch in life can really affect us in the worst way. Whether it be your emotional, physical, or mental health that suffers the pain, it is never easy to ignore it. The real focus is on how to deal with adversity, and not only that, but what lessons to take forward to make you stronger and more resilient in the future.

Our focus is on how to become more particularly resilient in the workplace. The workplace is one of the most important places in your life, with it being somewhere you have to go to on a daily basis, it is a huge part of your regular routine in life. So learning how to be resilient in the workplace is key for your daily happiness.

The Bounce Back We all Want

Impact Factory knows the importance of this and are offering building resilience training to help professionals find and unlock that ‘bounce back’ in the best way possible. They strongly believe that building resilience is really looking after a person’s well being, and they firmly focus on and study what resilience actually is. They also focus on individual resilience as each person varies in their approach and nature to deal with things, so tailor-made programmes very much help in the delivery of this important matter.

Founder Director of Impact Factory, Jo Ellen Grzyb, sat with one of their trainers and ex-Chelsea midfielder, Paul Hughes, to discuss the psychology behind resilient people, and stated the importance of understanding your internal narrative and the triggers that could impair the way you address difficult situations in a positive way. Building this awareness is the key base to discovering the start of resilience rather than endurance.

Remembering Whose in Charge

One of the main reasons people struggle with resilience is down to not being fully equipped or coached in the matter, and as a consequence they find themselves enduring rather than being resilient, and coping rather than thriving. Many people’s misconception is that they have to grit their teeth through a tough situation and just deal with it until it eventually passes, but this is no healthy way to live, given how often we can find ourselves going through adverse times.

Many uncontrollable situations can happen in the workplace that could lead us into a downward spiral of despair. It is important to remember we are in charge of ourselves and how we deal and respond to tough situations, especially when the difficulty isn’t down to us and is out of our own hands. It is a powerful tool to be able to tap into our past knowledge and experience to build up resilience in these situations. It allows us to stay dynamic and functioning, and even thrive in uncontrollable situations.
