A graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, MJ began his career skating professionally with Peggy Fleming and Shipstads and Johnson Ice Follies national tour. Subsequently, he moved to the corporate offices for Inter-Continental Hotels (New York City) and was Assistant Treasurer for Master Hosts International, (Los Angeles). Since 1986 he has been creating and producing strategic special events founding I.D.E.A.S Inc. in 1995, and the Herson Group Ltd. in 2001.

Herson has re-Evented multi-billion dollar campaign events for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Duke, University of Chicago, Texas A&M, and University of Tennessee. Herson Group has won three C.A.S.E. National Circle of Excellence Awards (1 Gold and 2 Silver,) for events for Princeton, Cornell and Texas A&M.

Herson conceived and produced the Inaugural Events and Opening Performance for Fort Worth’s, 2,200 seat Bass Performance Hall starring Carol Burnett, Frederica von Stade & Van Cliburn, and designed skating specials for Dick Button, JoJo Starbuck, HBO, ABC, NBC and FOX; developed special events for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Robert Tische, Weiss, Peck & Greer Investments, Swiss Air and the Peabody Essex Museum.

In addition to full event production, he guest lectures at Ithaca College and Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration, offers consulting services and is currently writing on a new book, Strategic Event Plans. Today MJ is particularly interested in blending new communications and theatrical technologies on the Internet to make the next generation of events more interactive, effective, powerful, and, of course, fun.
