There is no denying how important the plumbing in your home is. In the morning, your plumbing allows you to use the bathroom or take a shower as you get ready for work. After a big meal, it’s the plumbing that makes it easier for you to clean dishes. And when you need to keep your lawn looking great, it’s the plumbing that helps with your sprinkler system. That being said, there are the occasional hiccups and issues that can occur, leaving you scratching your head as to why the plumbing isn’t working properly. If you are having an issue with your plumbing, here are some questions you can ask to determine whether or not it’s an emergency that needs a professional to fix it.

Can You Still Use The Fixture?

The first thing that you’ll want to think when having an issue with the plumbing in your home is how much it’s affecting your ability to use it. In some cases, you may think that all you need to do is use a plunger to unclog a backed-up toilet. However, you may be simply putting a Band-Aid on something that needs a much bigger fix. If a toilet is backed up, you may think that it’s okay to use. But in reality, there could be a larger problem in the system that only gets worse each time you flush.

Another fixture that you might have problems with is your sink. If your sink’s water turns on, it may appear as if everything is okay. However, when is the last time you checked all of your pipes to ensure that nothing was leaking or that cracks haven’t developed over years of use? One small leak of water could quickly turn into larger problems that you aren’t prepared for.

If you can still use your toilet, sink or any other plumbing fixture in your home, you may be okay. Just keep in mind that if you are having constant issues, the next time you flush or turn on the water, you might be in a lot more trouble than you expected. Instead, you can call an experienced plumber to help you fix your tiny issues before they become much larger problems.

Is My Family Or Home At Risk?

The next question that you’ll want to ask yourself is what impending issues could result in damage to your family or home. If you are anything like us, then you know that your family and your home are two of the most important things in life. They are huge investments that we want to keep protected, so it’s important to do so. While a clogged toilet may not be a pressing issue to your family’s health, letting this issue go unattended to over time could result to further issues with your home’s plumbing. In addition, other problems with your plumbing could lead to health concerns that you may not be aware with. For example, a loose wire in your air conditioning machine could result in toxins leaking into your home, which could harm you and your family. Our professional plumbers have a variety of tools that they can use to help determine if your home needs any immediate fixes. It’s important to keep in mind that while many problems may be obvious, you could also be at risk for plenty of unrecognizable issues as well.

What Are The Benefits Of Fixing It Now Rather Than Later?

If you are still on the fence about declaring your plumbing issues an emergency, the last thing we recommend that you do is weigh the benefits of fixing it now versus waiting to do it later. If you have a clogged drain in a bathroom you never use, you may think it’s okay to put off fixing it. However, that likely won’t be the case if you only have one bathroom in your house and it’s backed up. Although we highly recommend that you always see to your plumbing problems as quickly as possible, we do understand that you may not have an emergency plumbing fund lying around. If that’s the case, then do yourself a favor and weigh the benefits of getting your problems fixed now or waiting for later.

We don’t expect you to call a plumber every time you have a little complication with your plumbing. That said, it’s important that you are aware of how much damage the issue is causing. If you have a problem that needs to be fixed immediately, we are here to help you clear things up and make sure your home’s plumbing is properly functioning.
