Covestor Radio – Episode 15: Assembling Your Financial Team

Kimberly Clouse, Covestor’s Chief Client Advocate and Advisory Board Chair joins Covestor Radio to talk about assembling your financial team.

Covestor Radio is a show about money milestones and investing for your future and brought to you by Covestor, an online marketplace for investing.

Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Kimberly Clouse discuss the following:

  • Who do most people include as members of their financial team?
  • Let’s first talk about the three professionals that most business owners will be very familiar with — lawyers, accountants, and insurance agents.
  • What about insurance agents?
  • You mentioned insurance professionals selling securities.  Now let’s talk about the members of your financial team who we typically associate more with investments — brokers and investment advisers.

TIP: For almost every financial professional, there is an online alternative — as is the case with almost everything these days. You can buy insurance online, do your taxes with online software, and more recently, we are seeing the rise of online investment advisers and marketplaces. The decision to use an online investment advisory service often involves weighing convenience and lower costs, versus the “brick-and-mortar” approach of live, face-to-face meetings. One attractive approach might be a mix of technology and “human touch.” In other words, a service that takes advantage of the rise of online communication, but the advice comes from a real person who you know and trust. For those comfortable with technology, but who see the value in non-algorithmic human decision-making, this can be an ideal marriage.
