Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Lorena’s typical Italian mother (Nonna Iole) prepared lunches and dinners for her family every day, and like every Italian prided herself on being an excellent cook. Lorena moved to Los Angeles, California when she married her husband in 1992. After the birth of her twin girls, like so many new mothers, her life became hectic and her days flew by. She was, however, always able to prepare delicious, home-cooked and nutritious meals for her family quickly and easily with the help of her mother’s Soffritto. Lorena decided it would be great to make this “secret cooking shortcut” available to other busy home cooks with limited time in the kitchen. Besides her mother’s “original” Italian version, she developed a Mexican recipe of Soffritto that includes the flavors of Spain, Mexico and Latin American cuisine, to enable the home cook to create all the Latin inspired dishes that are so popular.
In March 2009, to honor her mother, Lorena was inspired to make Soffritto available in the kitchens of every busy career man or woman, and mothers who struggle for time and still enjoy the pleasure of good, natural, and healthy foods.
Lorena now divides her time happily between her family and travelling throughout Southern California doing in-store cooking demonstrations using her Soffrittos.
