Times are changing. Ten or fifteen years ago, a website was something that was something of a luxury item. Now, however, it has become an essential part of doing business. If you are not online, you stand to miss out on a lot of business.
And, what’s more, you cannot just stick to a plain old, cookie cutter website either. You need a website that looks great, whether being viewed from a laptop, tablet or one of any of the thousands of types of mobile phones out there.
People will be looking up your firm, and in this competitive market, not having a great website is as bad as not hanging a sign over your door. Some people may stumble upon your offices, but a great many more will miss them completely.
In this post, we are going to look at the 6 elements of a great attorney website and what you need to make sure your web designers are doing for you.
A Layout that is Mobile-Responsive
So, your site looks great when it comes to someone viewing it on their laptop. But how does it look when viewed on an iPhone, or an iPad, or a Samsung, etc?
More and more searches are being conducted via mobile phone these days. If your site doesn’t look as good on a small screen as it does on the computer screen, you are losing business.
A Contemporary Design
You don’t want your site to look dated. It doesn’t matter that your company information hasn’t changed, or that your logo hasn’t changed, you need to update your site at least every couple of years.
Who wants to deal with attorneys who cannot be bothered to, or afford to update their website?
Have Simple Contact Forms
You want people to contact you. They want to contact you. Make it as easy as possible for them to do so. What do you need? A simple contact form. A field for their name, telephone number, maybe an email address and a bit of space to list their query. That’s it.
Make it possible to access the contact form from each page on the site and make sure that they can see it prominently displayed. Also have the phone numbers and email address clearly listed so if they want to contact you that way they can as well.
Spell Out What You Do
Have an area on the site that lists exactly what you do. Summarize it on one page using bulleted points that link to a page with more in-depth information. Each service should have its own page. Let them navigate to it easily.
Biographies of the Attorneys
It is easy to say, “We have experts that will deal with your case.” That tells your prospective client nothing. Have a clear biography for each attorney at the firm. Head it up with a professional headshot and list their qualifications and achievements.
Ethics Compliance
As an attorney, you understand the importance of ethics. Depending on the state you practice in, you might need to have a disclaimer on your site that results are not guaranteed.
At the end of the day, your website is out there representing you and your business. Appearances count so make sure that your website’s appearance matches the sterling service you offer.
