Below we wanted to pick out some of the best of those from around the world, taking care to provide a variety of podcast styles from different countries. But if you have a passion for racing, some of these widely-available podcasts should tickle your fancy:

1. On the Drift (Australia)

Horse racing is hugely popular in Australia, so it’s no wonder that there’s a huge range of informative podcasts to choose from. While some of the best pods come from sportsbooks, we are fans of On the Drift. It’s a great resource for a broad view of Australian racing, with a keen focus on providing betting tips for big events like Group 1 races and the Jockeys Premiership for each jurisdiction. The team at On the Drift take a laidback approach to covering racing, and it’s built up quite the community of “Drifters”, who tune in week in, week out to catch up on the racing news and banter.

2. Final Furlong (UK)

The podcast is backed by At The Races, which is one of the important broadcasters of UK and international racing, so you can expect plenty of production value and star interviews in this excellent podcast. The pod goes all year round, switching its focus from the flat racing late spring and summer season to the national hunt campaigns of the autumn, winter, and early spring. Everything from Cheltenham to Royal Ascot is covered, but we especially like the fact it will look beyond to events in Australia, USA, and Dubai. One of the most comprehensive podcasts for racing fans.

3. Blinkers Off (USA)

A must for fans of US racing, and another one that tends towards the laidback attitude. What we like most about Blinkers Off is that it is welcoming to all types of fans. At times, there can be a sense that racing pods cater to those already armed with expert knowledge of the sport. Blinkers Off is a little different, striving to have the broadest possible appeal for casual fans. The only negative aspect we’d give to it is that it focuses only (with some rare exceptions) on the ins and outs of American racing. A little perspective from abroad, and this would be the best racing podcast in the business.

4. Going in Circles (UK)

If you are hoping to get a winning tip for the Grand National, then look elsewhere. Going in Circles covers the horse racing industry from multiple angles. Sure, it will sometimes look at it from the perspective of racing as a competition, but it takes a broader view, looking at the business and politics behind the industry. It’s all the more fascinating to hear the guests talk about stories that might not make the mainstream sports media. Horse racing content for those who want to look further afar than the winning post.

5. The Racing Show (Australia)

We aimed to provide mostly independent podcasts on this list, but there is no escaping the quality of the racing podcast from one of the world’s leading betting exchanges – Betfair. It is arguably the most comprehensive racing podcast in Australia, with several episodes per week. However, it is more geared towards expert bettors than any of the others on this list. Still, if you are looking for the latest betting value in the Australian racing market, it’s probably the best podcast around.
