Laura Almeida Marks serves as President for Women Executive Leadership (WEL), a not-for-profit organization whose primary purpose is to increase the number of women serving on corporate boards and in the executive suite by recognizing and connecting accomplished women and further expanding their influence within their respective business communities.

In September 2010, Ms. Marks joined WEL, and has successfully led the organization in planning, executing and delivering programming focused on education and advocacy for gender diversity in the boardroom and executive suite.

Ms. Marks joined the organization after six years as Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition & Development with Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hisamitsu Pharmaceuticals of Japan. During her tenure, Ms. Marks led Noven’s talent acquisition team and oversaw the company’s growth through strategic staffing initiatives and acquisitions. In addition, Ms. Marks served as project lead in obtaining 6-Sigma Yellow Belt certification.

Ms. Marks began her career in commercial real estate investment and development with South Florida’s most prominent industry leaders. In 1999, she joined SFN (Spherion Corporation) as a Senior Search Consultant with a practice in Accounting, Finance and Human Resources.

Ms. Marks has been on the Board of Directors for Back On Track Network, Inc., a faith-based career support organization, Inc. since 2006, and was elected Chairman of the Board in 2010. She also served as Chair for the Human Resources Business Education and Training of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (2008 – 2010), where she remains active on Nonprofit Committee activities.

Ms. Marks holds a Masters degree in Human Resources Management from Florida International University and an undergraduate Business degree from St. Thomas University. She resides in Miami with her husband, Hank. Together they have three sons, Jason, Adam and Marcello.
