This episode of Enterprise Fit Radio is in association with the Mental Health Channel.

Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Karen Paul discuss the following:

  1. Lily Health emphasizes culturally responsive, trauma-informed support. How does your platform tailor its AI interactions to reflect diverse cultural backgrounds and emotional needs?
  2. Lily Health is designed to complement clinical care rather than replace it. How do you navigate that boundary in product development and user safety?
  3. What real-world gaps in mental health access—especially for immigrant or underserved communities—does Lily Health aim to fill, and how do you measure success?
  4. As AI tools proliferate in mental health, there are concerns about quality and ethical safeguards. What safeguards has Lily Health built to ensure responsible, bias-aware support?
  5. Looking ahead, how do you see AI’s role in mainstream mental health care evolving over the next 3–5 years, and where does Lily Health fit into that transformation?

Karen Paul: Founder of LilyHealth AI

Karen Paul is the founder and creator of LilyHealth AI, a culturally responsive, trauma-informed mental health technology initiative designed to support kids, teens, and young adults. LilyHealth AI is not a replacement for therapy, but a supportive “pocket therapist” that helps users reflect, feel validated, and build coping skills in a safe and accessible way.

Karen is trained in Marriage & Family Therapy and is a doctoral researcher and educator whose work centers on mental health, migration, identity, and culturally responsive care. She has experience across clinical, academic, and community-based settings, where she has consistently witnessed how many young people and immigrant families face barriers to accessing meaningful mental health support whether due to stigma, cost, long waitlists, or lack of cultural understanding.

LilyHealth AI was inspired by Karen’s personal story. The platform is named after her mother, Lily, a South Asian immigrant woman who struggled with depression in a cultural context where mental health was rarely discussed and support felt unreachable. This lived experience, combined with Karen’s professional background, shaped her vision to create a tool for people who may not have someone to turn to but still deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported.

What distinguishes LilyHealth AI is its emphasis on cultural competence, trauma-informed responses, and ethical boundaries. The platform adapts to users’ identities, cultural backgrounds, and emotional preferences while avoiding diagnosis or crisis management. It prioritizes validation, emotional safety, and clear pathways to external support when needed.

Karen is deeply committed to ethical technology development, privacy, and clinical integrity. LilyHealth AI follows HIPAA-aligned data practices, includes strict safety guardrails, and is being built with future therapist-supervised tiers to ensure responsible growth.

Through her work, Karen aims to reshape how mental health support is delivered—making it more humane, culturally grounded, and accessible. Her mission is simple: to ensure that young people, especially those from historically underserved communities, have a place to feel supported before reaching crisis.
