Karl Mattson is the GM of the International division and Chief of Product at Maxthon International.

A seasoned senior Internet business executive, Karl brings years of serial success and achievements for internationally known web and technology companies including AOL, Nokia and Maxthon.

Karl’s roots in the web go back to the mid 90s where he was part of a small team that defined quality web journalism, including creating forms that are ubiquitous today: the multi-media package and the news photo gallery.  In early 2000, while serving as the Senior PM of AOL’s personalization group, Karl created one of the web’s first news portals – My News. My News grew into the first multi-device cloud service — my.aol.com.  The ‘my’ family of products grew into the ‘AOL Anywhere’ strategy and ultimately included Netscape, Time Warner and multiple, international versions of each.

The advent of Web 2.0 found Karl working with Joe Trippi – the ‘dean’ of social media and former campaign manager of Howard Dean’s ’04 presidential election. Karl worked with Joe on a series of successful social media advocacy projects and campaigns in the United States.

Subsequently, Karl has been building out the promise of mult-device, always-on internet cloud services on a variety of products as a strategic advisor for start-ups and Fortune 500 companies – including creating Maxthon’s next foray into cloud businesses — SkyFile.
