Hanumatan Overview

The great ape is one of the most fearsome Guardians in Arkesia. He serves as the final level 6 Guardian Raid boss and is one of the more challenging creatures you will face in the game. While he may be troublesome to fight, you still need to continuously farm the boss since he is one of the best sources of Tier 3 Ancient Accessories, Ability Stones, Engraving Books, and Bracelets, which you can sell for heaps of Lost Ark gold. In addition, you also gain much-needed Honing Materials from beating the armored monkey.

Hanumatan is challenging because he requires high DPS, staggers, and good timing to beat. His mechanics are not forgiving, as failure to execute them properly would considerably extend the fight. He has multiple destructions and stagger checks, so players are advised to bring Whirlwind and Destruction Grenades. A pheromone is an excellent option to carry, especially during instances where you fail the mechanics.

The fight in Hanumatan involves breaking three layers of armor and staggering him. In addition, players should be able to maintain the damage buff during the whole battle to optimize their attack output. This guide will help you navigate each phase and gimmick of the fight.

Hanumatan Mechanics

The fight with this great ape can be lengthy because there are phases that players need to go through. Each one requires raiders to do counter and DPS checks to ensure the last stage is manageable. Here are the gimmicks for the fight:

Armor Destruction

There will be multiple instances where players can destroy one layer of Hanumatan’s armor. There is a total of three coverings that raiders need to break to make the last phase of the fight more bearable. There will be instances per phase where players can destroy a piece of the armor, but it is highly recommended to do it on the first one. You can remove a layer of the armor after each counter check.

Destroying the armor makes Hanumatan more vulnerable and will provide players with permanent buffs that can stack up to three times. These bonuses are separate from the ones that raiders must maintain during the fight. Here are the buffs you gain for each destruction check:

  • 5% MS per Stack
  • 3.5% CDR per Stack
  • 3.5% Attack Speed per Stack

There are consequences to not being able to do the destruction checks. Failing to remove layers of the armor means Hanumatan will receive less damage from players. In addition, his attacks become much stronger in the last phase. Make sure to manage how much DPS you put in during each stage, as doing too much or too low will cause you to skip the first opening.

Note: You should always bring a Destruction Bomb if your team needs more Destruction-based attacks to ensure you can clear the checks.

Stacking Buff

Every successful attack on Hanumatan will cause players to receive a stack of buff, lasting 10 seconds. Players gain a 1% increase in crit rate for everyone. However, for every pile you earn, you also receive 1.5% more damage, which ramps up to 2% during Phase 4. You unlock additional bonuses every time you gain a certain number of stacks. Here are things get upon reaching specific numbers:

  • Nine stacks – None
  • 10-39 Stacks – 5% CDR
  • 40 Stacks – 30% CDR

You can tell how many stacks you or your allies have by looking at the icon above their head. Closed eyes mean no additional active buffs. Half-Wide Open means you gain 5% CDR. The last one is Full-Wide Open, which indicates you have 30% CDR. It is ideal for maintaining these buffs, so you need to keep hitting the boss. You can use pheromones to prevent Hanumatan from moving to different areas to avoid downtime.

Note: Every time Hanumatan transitions to another phase, he becomes invulnerable and tries to leave the area. Use Pheromone Bombs to prevent him from escaping, so you can maintain your buffs.

Phase 1

The counter check for the first phase occurs after Hanumatan summons a meteor shower after jumping and knocking back players hit. When the boss turns blue, raiders can use their Counter skills to stun him, allowing them to use Destruction attacks and bombs once the Weak Point affix pops up. If you fail to break his armor on the first try, you can make one more attempt during the stagger.

When Hanumatan transitions to Phase 2, he will conjure a fog surrounding him. A Stagger bar will appear, telling players they should start making Stagger-based attacks. While trying to stun him, Hanumatan keeps causing cone-shaped explosions. If you fail to destroy a piece of the armor during the first check, you can attempt again when the Weak Point affix reappears after interrupting the boss.

After damaging Hanumatan, he will become invincible and absorb the surrounding clouds. When he makes this move, you should use Pheromone Bombs to ensure he doesn’t leave the area.

Phase 2

The counter check for this phase will occur after Hanumatan makes another meteor shower attack after executing a spirit bomb move. Once he glows blue, players can use their Counter-based abilities to stun him. It should be noted that attacking the boss while he is doing the Spirit Bomb will cause him to detonate the explosion, which will cause massive damage to nearby players. Avoid damaging the boss until he is finished with the animation. You can use your Destruction-based attacks when the Weak Point Affix appears after interrupting him.

If you fail to remove an armor during the initial sequence, you can make another attempt during the transition. Hanumatan raises his hand and slams the ground to cause a cross-shaped shockwave. The safe spots are on his diagonals. After the attack, linear shocks will occur in a clockwise rotation. You should be able to do a Stagger check during this part after the meter appears. Make sure to counter him after depleting the bar. Continue to damage Hanumatan until he becomes invulnerable and moves to Phase 3.

Phase 3

The counter check at this juncture can be tricky because failing to execute the sequence properly can result in multiple player deaths. Hanumatan will beat his chest while roaring and then attempt to grab someone before him. If he catches at least one person, he slams thrice. Afterward, he will glow blue when raiders should make a Counter-based attack.

The counter check will be skipped if the boss does not grab anyone. Ensure that at least one player gets caught by the ape unless you target the second attempt. If the team fails to counter Hanumatan after the three slams, he will continuously toss the grabbed player around, which usually results in death. The armor can be destroyed once a Weak Point Affix appears, or you can consider removing it during the second attempt.

During the transition, Hanumatan will swing his arms multiple times, and the effects will vary depending on whether he still has armor. If players were successful on the first destruction check, they would only have to stay at the sides until the boss glows blue. If they fail to remove the last layer of armor, Hanumatan will swing five times, and each one will summon a delayed explosion beneath each player. Raiders will have to keep dodging if this happens. The boss will glow blue after the fifth attack.

There is no Stagger Check in this sequence since you only need to Counter Hanumatan to stun him. After interrupting him, you should continuously deal damage until he transforms into his White Ape Mode. If you fail to remove all the layers of armor by this time, run away as far as you can to avoid the big AoE attack that the boss will do before he shifts to his last phase.

Phase 4 (White Ape Mode)

This is the last phase of Hanumatan, and it does not require any unique gimmick Counter or Stagger check. While there are some mechanics you still need to take note of, most of these occur randomly. The damage the boss deals during the phase depends on whether he has armor or how many pieces he has left. The more he has, the more he is going to be hurt.

Transition

During his transformation, Hanumatan will continuously beat his cheat while releasing small shockwaves. After his hair turns white, he slams the ground, which binds every character. You need to undo the immobilization by spamming “Space.”

Grab

Hanumatan’s eyes will glow red, and grab a random player in front of him. If he catches at least one, he will slam that person to the ground and continuously deal pulsating damage. After the initial pound, a meter will appear below the white ape, indicating when those not grabbed start using Stagger-based attacks. Deplete the bar as fast as possible to release the captured player.

Yin-Yang

One attack of Hanumatan involves him summoning a Yin-Yang sigil on the ground. During this move, the boss will pound the ground and continuously make pulsating attacks with significant damage. Players must stand on top of the green Yin-Yang symbol on the floor to avoid getting hit. Be mindful as the sigil moves around, so parties should reposition accordingly. Hanumatan is not invulnerable during this sequence, so you can keep attacking him if the Yin-Yang is close.

Jump Attack

One of his last notable attacks is his Leap ability. Hanumatan will roar and proceed to launch himself into the air. A blue telegraph will indicate where he will crash down after a short delay. If this attack hits any player, the boss will make a follow-up attack with significant damage. Avoid getting caught up in this move to avoid unnecessary damage.

Practice Makes Perfect

Even if you know all these things, you might still need help fighting Hanumatan. Fortunately, doing the runs many times will help players familiarize themselves with everything and become more attuned to the mechanics of the Raid. Eventually, raiders become more comfortable with this fight and can easily farm items to sell for Lost Ark gold from this boss.
