Early Beginnings and Career Path

Q: Can you tell us about your early beginnings in the entertainment industry?

Vic: I started performing on stage and on screen when I was a kid in southwestern Pennsylvania. Although I paused performing to concentrate on high school and college, my zeal for the arts remained. After earning my degree in film and television production from Liberty University in the mid-1980s, I got started on a diverse career path. I initially served as an educator, teaching speech and English in Jacksonville, Florida, and even briefly served as a police officer in Ocean City, Maryland.

Transition to Voice Acting

Q: How did you transition into voice acting?

Vic: My first voice acting role was in 1999. I starred as Vega in “Street Fighter II V,” which was an anime adaptation of the popular video game. Over the next two decades, I lent my voice to a lot of diverse characters, including Edward Elric in “Fullmetal Alchemist,” Broly in the “Dragon Ball” series, and Tamaki Suoh in “Ouran High School Host Club.”

My involvement in voice acting grew as I connected with dubbing and animation studios in Houston and Dallas, leading to collaborations on a bunch of dynamic anime series and films. This experience has allowed me to explore a wide range of characters and storytelling styles, making voice acting a deeply fulfilling part of my career.

Daily Routine and Creative Process

Q: How do you structure your day to stay productive?

Vic: My day typically starts with some quiet time for devotional reading and prayer. This sets a positive tone for the day. I then dive into various projects, whether they are audio, video, or music-related. I also make it a point to hit the gym regularly to keep in top shape, both mentally and physically.

Q: How do you develop and bring your creative ideas to life?

Vic: Creativity can strike at any moment, so I always keep tools handy to capture ideas. For music, I might sit at the piano or record a melody on my phone. For other projects, I use the notepad app on my phone to jot down thoughts and concepts as they come to me.

Q: What habits do you find most beneficial for maintaining productivity?

Vic: Staying engaged in creative activities is key for me. Whether it’s working on music, acting, or even a home improvement project, keeping my mind active and involved in various pursuits helps maintain my productivity.

Advice, Tips, and Reflections

Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?

Vic: Be prepared for the ups and downs of life. Embrace the highs and learn from the lows.

Q: What daily practice do you recommend to others?

Vic: I recommend starting each day with prayer. It helps set a positive and focused mindset for the day ahead.

Q: What software tools do you find indispensable for your work?

Vic: Pro Tools is essential for my audio and music projects. I also rely heavily on Adobe Photoshop and Premiere for various creative tasks.

Q: Can you recommend a book that has had a significant impact on you?
