The Strategy Show

Content, Content, Content with Liz Lynch

The Strategy ShowMarketing today is all about content, content, content. You’ve heard that success in real estate is about location, location, location–well a lot of success in business comes down to a success in marketing and today that is all about content, content, content. This is certainly different than traditional, interruption based advertising. We have become so desensitized to advertising now that we completely tune it out–we walk out of the room when commercials come on the TV. Advertisers now have to create commercials that look like part of the content which you are probably seeing more and more these days.

Another strategy used by advertisers is product placements. They pay TV shows to get their products displayed on the set or used somewhere in the story. People pay attention to content but tune out advertising, so if we want our marketing messages to get through then we need to wrap it in content that our market will stop and pay attention to. If you are already in a content business where you have tele-classes, live events, podcasts, products and if what you are selling is information then developing more content for your business is a no brainer and it is a must and you need to be doing that in your marketing.

If you have a service business where you are doing something for a customer a massage therapist, an architect or landscaper, content would actually help you stand out & your market is looking for more info on how the process works. If you sell a product then content is going to help the sales process.

Content is crucial for marketing any type of business today in all different forms: writing, video & audio. Take inventory of all the kinds of content that you produce in your business right now. Anything such as a newsletter (physical or email), blogs, podcasts, radio shows, videos or anything you might do such as a special tele-class or an information product. You are just taking inventory of what you have in your arsenal right now. One of the easiest ways to create new content is to re-purpose something you already have.

On the next episode of The Strategy Show, Liz Lynch will show you ideas how to get started with creating content if you have none yet.
