Best way for a business to start or implement a social media program

with Ty Kiisel

Ty Kiisel, Manager of Social Media at AtTask, Inc. joins Enterprise Radio to talk about social media business trends, the best way for a business to start or implement a social media program & more…

Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Ty Kiisel discuss the following:

  • It seems clear that social media isn’t going away and that more businesses are incorporating it into their strategies.  With that in mind, what are some of the social media business trends you expect to see moving forward?
  • Why are businesses so resistant to get involved with and implement a social media program?
  • What’s the best way for a business to start or implement a social media program
  • From a business perspective, who should a business allow to be involved in social media and should a CEO Tweet, blog and participate in social media?
  • You write about project management and about engaging the workforce, does social media engage a workforce and improve employee performance and morale?

Tip: I think it’s time we step back and look at how we manage work and lead people with a set of fresh eyes—from a new paradigm. It’s time to incorporate social media and bring work back to life.
Bringing the work to life in your organization isn’t rocket science, but it does require some effort. What’s more, that effort needs to take place at the grass roots level—with the individuals that make up your project teams and the rest of your workforce.

I’ve observed that most people have a real desire to contribute to something bigger than themselves. I also believe that those closest to the work understand it the best and when they understand the “why” behind what they’re doing and have the freedom to make choices and decisions about how they do it, they are empowered to contribute at a higher level, take ownership of their work, and it comes to life for them.

I don’t think there’s any question that an engaged workforce is a happy and more productive workforce. Creating an environment where team members are empowered to make meaningful decisions about their work, where information about goals and objectives flow freely down and the real story about what’s happening at the front line flows freely upward, and accomplishments are recognized are the first step to bringing work alive.
