Akilah C. Thompson holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Economics from North Carolina A&T State University. During her undergraduate career, she served as the President of the Zeta Sigma chapter of Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Fraternity, the Aggie Economics Association and Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society in Economics. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and was the top Business student of her graduating class. After college, she worked as an Entertainment Accountant. She is an IRS Enrolled Agent and spent 6 years in corporate America, finishing her corporate career as a Tax Manager at Deloitte Tax LLP in the Private Client Advisors Group. She was active in diversity training and served on the Deloitte NABA New York Executive Planning Team. She was frequently a guest speaker at internal and external functions such as programs for the Harlem YMCA and School to Work Day. Then in 2011, she launched her own firm, ACT Advisors Group where she provides accounting, consulting, and tax services for small businesses and non-profits.
