Misha N. Granado, MPH, MS is the Executive Director of Love Grows and serves as a consultant for the group. She has been actively engaged in empowering girls and women for over ten years, a calling she received while participating in Americorps. “As a team leader in Americorps, I had the opportunity to design, implement and facilitate an after school program at an urban elementary school. During my tenure at the school I was exposed to the unhealthy social interactions in which the students engaged. As early as kindergarten, 5-year old girls were ostracized or were alienating other girls based on skin color, hair texture and/or perceived lack of financial wealth. It was in this setting surrounded by 5-11 year old girls who were already showing signs of fractured self-esteem that Love Grows was conceived.

Misha earned a Masters in Community Psychology and a Masters in Public Health (Behavioral Health) from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Additionally, her experience includes: an adjunct professorship in the Department of Psychology, providing mental health counseling to adolescents, teenagers, families, mother-daughters, dating, married couples; in addition to developing and facilitating psychosocial groups for at-risk teens. Furthermore, she has facilitated focus groups and workshops both with a college population and internationally with adults and co-facilitated a monthly forum group. Misha is also a 2007-2008 recipient of the J William Fulbright Fellowship which she completed at the Chronic Disease Research Centre in Barbados, West Indies.
