James Taliento is the founder and CEO of Cursive Security, Inc., a provider of intelligence-driven cybersecurity services and solutions. Since his background is rooted in offensive security, Taliento offers unique insight in his approach to evaluating enterprise networks and defensive strategy. He has helped many organizations develop new capabilities and enhance their current security practices. He has conducted research on security control efficacy, deception technology, and security data analytics.
After working in the industry for several years and operating under many other brands, Taliento founded Cursive Security to provide objective, transparent, pragmatic, intelligence-driven security services to help organizations make the right choices by providing them with the most value. The differentiator with Cursive Security is the intelligence-driven approach. It uses proprietary technology to collect intelligence that is integrated into service offerings.
Taliento previously worked at INNO4 LLC, a national tech integrator, as an information security consultant for global enterprise clients. He conducted external, internal, and wireless security assessments. He also served as a security analyst alongside customer security staff and leadership, educating and improving their capabilities.
As an independent security consultant, Taliento conducted external, internal, application, and wireless penetration tests, security assessments, and incident response. He represented more than 20 brands as a security engineer, security analyst, and information security consultant. He performed efficacy testing across all major vendors within the next-generation security product space.
Earlier in his career, Taliento was acting CIO for NY-based St. Anthony’s High School. He managed operations with respect to all information systems, data infrastructure, and security.
Taliento also was lead application architect for White Media, a mobile, app and marketing company.
He earned a BS in computer science at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Taliento has earned ten certifications in cybersecurity and related fields.
