Speak Confidently but not with Cockiness

Speak Confidently but not with Cockiness with Dr. Bill Lampton

Guidelines for keeping that confidence boost in check:

  • Behave like a guest not a prima donna.

  • Act like a member of the welcoming and arrangements committee.

  • Avoid sounding like a one person dynamo.

  • Express gratitude for management team, mentors, support staff and others who made your accomplishments possible.

  • Tell success stories involving others.

  • Avoid excessive name dropping.

  • Mention famous people and events only if they’re highly relevant to your message & focus on their expertise.

  • Giving your itinerary can be very offensive – refrain from it.

  • Stay away from sarcastic statements that could embarrass questioners.

  • Give credits to others when given the opportunity without diminishing your authority.

  • Be polite and helpful at every event expecting no privileges.
