Partial Transcript of Interview with Aybegum Senkesen

Eric Dye: I see you have a background as a chemist. What prompted the creation of SkinGenX?

Aybegum Senkesen: There is nothing like finding the first wrinkle on your face before the age of 35. So that was my wake up call and I have to say I have been blessed with with great genes. I have never had problems with my skin and never had acne but I grew up in the 80’s when we didn’t know about spf and it was normal to go to the beach and get a tan. I know a lot of people resort to injections and procedures and I didn’t want that so I started searching for ingredients that are known to work and can minimize these lines. I have worked as a consultant for a pharmaceutical indsutry and my job is to research drugs, ingrededients and their side effects so as I was looking for a creme for myself I realized most of them didn’t have the ingredients that I was looking for or had some questionable chemicals that I didn’t want. Some of these brands have 20 products on the market – who has time for that so I came up with the idea of formulating my own creme for myself and actually for my family and that is how SkinGenX was born.

Eric Dye: How did you come up with the name – SkinGenX?

Aybegum Senkesen: Well that wasn’t an easy process, it was a colaboration actually. I had many ideas and names in mind and I discussed it with my family and friends but I definetly wanted to have “skin” in the name because this is what it is all about – it has to do with healthy and beautiful skin and I wanted to emphasize regeneration aspect of it so I put the “Gen” there…and “X” is used as the unknown factor in math and science formulas so this is kind of like we are trying to find the one factor that works kind of thing.

Eric Dye: What is the concept behind the brand?

Aybegum Senkesen: For the last five years probably we are being bombarded with all natural or organic products and I am a mlm so I always look for things that are healthy for my family whether it is cosmetics or other products that we use at home. I personally think and as a chemist, I think that we have to be really careful with these claims – first of all something that is natural may not be good for you…
