Carter started his own firm LeCraw Investment Management in 1996 in Johnson City, TN and is currently CEO of American Values Investments,  a registered investment adviser.

He also is the Portfolio Manager for the American Heroes Investment Model on Covestor, an online marketplace for investing.

Carter’s interests gravitated to socially responsible investing, but he soon realized there was a huge void in the marketplace. There were virtually no investment firms that were targeting for investment those public companies that best reflected authentic American values. Even in the socially responsible space, investment firms, for the most part, were merely avoiding the most objectionable companies.

Therefore, Carter began the challenging process of identifying companies that best reflected the faith-based values upon which America was founded. The concept attracted some significant operational talent and investment capital. In 2002, the firm’s name was changed to American Values Investments, to better reflect its goals and objectives. The company rose to over $60 million in assets in a few short years.

Presently, Carter is CEO of American Values Investments which supplies third party investment services to other financial advisors whose clients want their investments to better reflect their values.

Carter believes that our country would experience significant positive change if more investors would support companies that highly reflect the Timeless values that were represented by our Founders and still embraced today by millions of our citizens.

Carter plays tennis and volunteers in the children’s ministry at Grace Fellowship Church in Johnson City, TN. During his teens he was ranked #3 in the 18-and-under category in the state of Georgia. As a result, Carter was awarded an athletic scholarship to Georgia Tech where he lettered all four years and played as high as #2 singles for the team.

Upon graduation Carter entered Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and served in the US Navy.
